It is exceedingly rare to find a pure object, such as this treasure of a small George I gilt gesso Mirror Sconce in a perfect state of preservation.

Here we have an object of pure design, talented execution of the design and in an untouched state:  the mirror plate is original and possesses those little extra touches - a bevelled plate and an engraved star in the upper section of the plate - that one likes to see which distinguishes it from a more pedestrian example from the same period.
